#192 Web TV: Why Do You Play Golf?

Why do you play golf?

Are you frustrated with your golf?

And do you feel like it’s time to give it up because it’s too hard?

As you can see I’m here early in the morning, so you can see the nice, beautiful background, it’s fabulous.

I’m getting it from a lot of people, a lot of people are saying to me, it’s just too hard, I feel like giving up, I don’t know what to do, I’m over it, I’m not getting anything out of it like I thought I could.

Firstly, my message is going to be, don’t give up, do not give up.

What is happening is that you are being tested by golf, you are being tested by the universe. The universe is saying to you, hey, do you really want to play golf?

Have a think about it.

Why is it that you want to play golf?

Really seriously think about why it is. For me it’s that I love hitting a golf ball, I love the feeling of a nice easy smooth swing, I love the feeling of what happens when the club hits the ball and I get that nice, pure shot when the ball hits right in the centre of the clubface.

Absolutely amazing! I love golf for that reason, that’s why I love to play it, that’s why I love to share my passion about golf because I really enjoy the striking of the ball. I really enjoy the feeling of hitting a tee shot down the fairway, I love hitting a shot into the green, I love hearing that sound of the ball going into the hole from a putt. I love the sound that the pure shot makes.

I get a lot of enjoyment and pleasure out of that. There are a lot of things that I don’t like about golf, in the sense of what’s happening with the game of golf, what people are doing around competitions, how people are behaving at golf clubs, how they carry on about speed of play, how people treat each other, it’s disgusting.

I am going to put it out there, it’s disgusting, it’s not about having to run quickly between holes and because you have to do this or that. I’m telling you now, if you are doing that, going along with it, and still frustrated about your golf you are becoming institutionalised.

I’m really passionate about this and I’m going to really share it today, it’s really ticking me off that people are coming to me and saying, "Tiff, you are my last hope!" I should be your first hope, I should be the first person that you come to with your golf, not the last person that you come to hoping that somehow I am going to miraculously fix all your problems.

I can fix them, I have no issue with that, I can fix them from the mental side, I can fix them from a physical side.

But, don’t come to me and say "Tiff, you’re my last hope, if I can’t work it out I am never going to be able to work it out!"

The first thing that you want to do, and this is the question I am going to ask you is;

Why do you play golf?

What is the reasoning behind why you play golf?
What can you tell me?

Do you play it for the enjoyment like I do, like the feeling you get when the ball comes off the clubface, the feeling of the most pure shot, the sound the ball makes when it hits the club, or the sound when the ball goes into the hole?

Do you play golf because you enjoy the company of your friends? Do you go to clinics, the ladies come to clinics with me because they enjoy it, I make it fun? You have to make golf fun, they laugh, they giggle, this is what golf is all about.
It’s not about I must do this, I must do that, and I must get my handicap down a certain thing, and not enjoy it. I went from a handicap of forty-five to scratch is three years, I did it because that’s what I wanted to do, I loved it, I loved every aspect of the golf course, I wanted to be around golf, I wanted to be around people who played golf, I wanted to absorb myself into the golf experience. I even wanted to work at a golf course, which I did, even before I started
teaching, I wanted to immerse myself in it because I loved it so much.

So why do you play golf? What is it? Is it the friends, is it the competition, and I’m not saying don’t enjoy the competition, you should love the competition if that’s what you are into, I love competition too?
I love to challenge myself, but some people don’t want to do that. That’s fine, you don’t have to do that. You can go and play golf for the enjoyment of golf. I have ladies that I teach who are not a member of a golf club, they love coming because they love the enjoyment they get out of lessons because I make it fun, it’s fun to be here, they giggle all the way around the golf course. I love it, I love watching that.

But, why are you playing golf, this is about you. I want you to think about why you are playing golf. My mum, some of you know my mum, she’s a member at Port Macquarie Golf Club, she plays golf because she loves it the same way I do, she loves the feeling of hitting a ball, she loves the feeling of having a nice, easy golf swing, she loves the sound of the ball going into the hole. (I wonder where I get that from?) She loves the whole atmosphere of golf, she loves
being there, she loves to go and practice, I love to go and practice.

So, why do you play golf? That’s the first thing you have to look at, why do you play golf? I’m going to continue on this topic with more videos coming up.

Keep your eye out, coming soon, not quite yet, but soon, there will be a Lady Golf Teacher Academy, it’s in the process at the moment, in the works, keep your eye out for that because we are going to really rock this golf game.

I hope you enjoyed today’s talk, not a tip, it’s a talk today. I would love you to leave a comment and share with me what you liked best about what you heard today and if you have friends that you know will benefit from these videos, it would be absolutely awesome if you could share them, because we want to build the Lady Golf Teacher community as big as we possibly can.
