#171 Web TV: Is Rhythm Important For Pitching Over Bunker?

Is Rhythm Important For Pitching Over Bunker?

You know when you are in front of the bunker and you’ve got to hit the ball onto the green but you are freaking out and you’re really nervous and you are worried that you are going to hit the ball into the bunker?

I’m going to show you a way in which you can tackle that so that it is not happening for you, you are actually hitting the ball over the bunker consistently.

Today we are going to be working on hitting the ball over the bunker.

You would have seen a previous video where I showed you from the back angle hitting a ball over the bunker and I’m now going to show you from a different angle in hitting over the bunker and the thing I want you to get today is to enjoy the actual action.

I don’t want you to be freaking out on “oh, my God, I’ve got to hit this over the bunker”.

So many people that I teach get themselves into such a state about having to get the ball up and over the bunker that they freak out and I want to make sure that it doesn’t happen for you.

The thing is that you really should enjoy your shots. You’ve actually got to enjoy the feel that you create from the shots, not just getting it over and done with.

This is what we are going to do. Regardless of whether the ball goes over the bunker or not, what I want you to start working on is just going back, through, hold but I want you to make sure you are doing it in a nice, simple easy rhythm.

I want you to copy my rhythm.

What you will have is a picture in your mind of how you need to be doing the shot.

If we were to do a practice swing, this is the type of rhythm we want, back, through, hold. Back, through, hold. That should be your mantra and that should be your speed. We’re not trying to quickly get rid of the ball.

I’ll show you one thing that we don’t want to see, quickly trying to get rid of the ball. What we want to do is to feel good when we hit the ball. Back, through, hold.

Getting set, back, through, hold. It’s great if it goes over, I don’t want you to freak out if it doesn’t. All we are doing here is creating a nice, easy rhythm, and we are actually enjoying the shot. You should enjoy the shot.

That’s what golf is all about. Enjoying the way the ball feels off the club face, I know I do, I want to make sure that you do too.

I’ll do one more, back, through, hold and then get the result that we want. It’s pretty, pretty simple isn’t it? Absolutely!
