#168 Web TV: Do You Struggle Hitting Out Of Bunkers - Part 2

Do You Struggle Hitting Out Of Bunkers - Part 2

You know when you struggle to get the balls out of the bunker even in the low lip situation?

You will have seen a previous video of me showing you how to get out of the situation where you have a low lip bunker, so now I’m going to show you what you need to be doing with the ball.

As I said, the previous video that I did, quite recently, was actually showing you, sharing with you, what you need to make sure you are doing. When you are coming through you have to keep the club face, the club and your arms all on the right side of your body, you don’t want it to be coming through low around your body because it can create all sorts of problems.

If I am to show you what to do here with the ball, all you have to do is the same action with the ball added in.

I will show you one thing of what not to do, and then I’ll show you what you need to do. This is what I see a lot of that I don’t want you doing. When you do the actual bunker shot, you don’t want to be hitting the ball and then pulling the club around your body. You can get away with it sometimes on a low lip but very rarely. I see that a lot, people coming through and tending to stick the left elbow out to the left, pull right around their body as well, and the club face twists around, which we don’t want.

What you want to do is when you come through, just hold the position so the club face is still pointing up to the sky and what I mean pointing up to the sky is the actual club face point up. Not over to the left.

When you actually play the shot, back, through, hold, you can see that everything is still on the right side of your body. Before I hit it, by the way, if you make mistakes doing it this way, don’t worry, you just have to practice, eventually it will slot in if you are doing the right thing.

All you want to do is to swing back, through, hold. As you can see, the ball came out of the bunker, the club face is staying nice and straight, my arms weren’t pulling around and you would have seen that I have gone forward. You can’t see my elbow sticking out.

Go back and rewind the video so you see those pieces when I produce the swing. You will know exactly what you need to be looking for.
