Golf Driving Tips – Are You Doing This With Both Your Shoulders?
Guess what?
I have another driver tip for you.
Following that tip that I gave you last week, there is something that I want to add to that just to make sure that we are both on the same page.
What I want to share with you today is a follow on from the Golf Driving Tips- Right Shoulder Low that I gave you last week.
Last week the tip that I gave you was keeping that right shoulder low when you are coming through to make contact with the ball.
I’ll demonstrate here in the video above, if I were to hold the club up against my shoulders, when I come through I want to make sure my right shoulder stays nice and low coming though the shot.
After I shot that video I thought I’ve got to add something else to that, I am a little bit concerned that when I give out tips I want to make sure that you are doing the right thing and you don’t over exaggerate what I am sharing with you.
The thing that concerned me after I shot last week's video Golf Driving Tips- Right Shoulder Low was the fact that if I told you to do that and then you started taking your club back into your back swing, you might think that you have to dip down to hit the shot.
That was a real concern to me!
I want to make sure I get the message across correctly that it is not about dipping your body. Even though you want to keep your right shoulder low it is not about dipping down.
If you go back and then think you have to keep your right should low, you might think that you have to dip down. If that happened, you will start digging up the ground and have all sorts of other problems and you will think it doesn’t work.
It only works if you do it correctly!
This is what I want you to think about when you are doing your swing. I’ll show you from a side on angle first and then I’ll show you from a front angle. I want you think of your spine as nice and straight and then to take a tilt forward in your position, you need to stick your butt out so your spine is nice and straight, not rounded, nice and straight.
What you want to feel is that when we have the club across our chest and shoulders all you are doing is rotating around your spine. Left shoulder low, right shoulder low. I’m not going up and I’m not coming back down again.
Can you see what I mean? (refer to video above).
If we were to do it this way standing over the ball it would look at left shoulder low, right shoulder low. Again I am not trying to come up and then come back down and hit the shot again.
I wanted to make you aware of that, so when you are actually playing the shot, you stand up and get set for the ball.
The thing is to make sure that you are only rotating your spine.
I’ll do a nice simple swing for you just so you know what I am talking about, basically do your set up and then it’s back and through. All I have done is to turn back and through, I haven’t allowed my body to dip down and around and all that mumbo-jumbo stuff.
Make sure that you are only doing that and that only.
If you have forgotten what I have just said, rewind the video back and look at that rotational piece. It’s going to make a big difference.
I hope you got a lot of value out of today’s tip, I would love to hear from you, leave a comment, I love getting comments and seeing how your progress is going, if you have questions, leave them with your comments.
Have an absolutely awesome day, take care, and remember; tee it high and let it fly.
