How To Stop Your Golf Grip From Slipping.
Well, today we are going to talk about a way in which you stop your golf grip from slipping.
I find that a lot of people when they are playing golf let their left had twist around when they are actually hitting the golf ball.
I am going to show you a very simple drill in which you can tackle that problem so that your hand is not slipping around the grip. You need to make sure that you have a really secure left hand when you are playing golf.
Today we are going to be looking at a way in which we can ensure that your golf grip is more secure when you are actually playing your shots. A lot of people when they play tend to let their golf grip slip.
Firstly. What kind of grip should you have? Well, I will say that I am a massive fan of the lamkin grip. It’s quite a thick grip and it is also nice and sticky. I find that I can hold on to the grip really well. You don’t want smooth grips because you tend to find that your hand slips. When you go and see your local golf pro or golf store, go and have a look at the grips and have a feel of them, touch them with your hands and actually get a feel for them to see if you like the feel. They need to feel sticky so that you can secure your hand on them.
Now, what we are actually going to do here is to use a tee. I’ll show you here, we have the grip and we need to do is sit this part of the hand on this part of the grip. This is called the heel pad. The club need to sit right on top of the grip.
What I find is that when people actually set their hands on the grip they tend to let it sit at the side. What actually happens is it is almost like the lifeline tends to sit in that direction there, which is not good. You lose control. You need to make sure that it is the heel pad that sits over the top.
This is where this handy drill comes in.
Using the grip, put the tee right at there on the top. This tee needs to sit on the edge, not right over the top. Let it sit on the edge. It’s a nice big tee so you can hold on to it and get the feel of it.
Let the tee sit on the top and then what we want to do is to be able to put the heel pad then on top as you can see. It then ends up on top of the club between the heel pad and the grip. It needs to sit in the top position rather than coming around to a side position. When we set this up we have more control.
Now what you want to be able to do is to hit golf balls with it. What you want to be able to do when I come through and hit the shot is to then check and make sure that the tee has actually stayed in position.
If the tee has actually slipped around to the side it means that your hand has slipped. The aim here is to actually make sure that the tee sits on the top so that your hand can then sit on the top as well, so there is no movement.
That’s a very simple drill for you to do. Hope you got a lot of value out of it. It’s really easy, does take a bit of time to secure your hand on top of the actual grip and keep the golf grip, but it’s very simple to work on.
